Latest:

Another fire broke out earlier on La Palma, in the Las Cabezadas area of Tijarafe, but it has now been stabilized after air resources were diverted to deal with it while all other efforts concentrated on the two fronts of the southern fire. That has risen to the Cumbre Vieja area, and lower down the slopes some residents are themselves fighting a rearguard action to defend their own homes which are being approached by flames: they say that all the fire teams are engaged in the mountains. Desperate times for La Palma.

Bloody hell, they didn't need that!  Any speculation about what caused the second fire?
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

Oh no. Those poor people. I bloody hope they don't try to be heroes, and get the hell out of there if they have to.

Scary stuff !!
See a park ranger reported dead in fires, also noted report that 'a man lighting toilet paper' started one
Sad times

36ºc here in my back yard, but 24ºc inside the house. Valverde El Hierro.

Not good on La Palma, rain would help.

Hi @Hepa  do you have any fires??

Myrtle Hogan-Lance

36 in the west of Tenerife and I swear I smell smoke.  I have not gone outside for hours so perhaps I should venture into the oven.

Hang on, be right back.

Back.

There is no sign of smoke but of course the air is heavy with sand and the visibility is low.  The air smells awful, which is unsurprising.

Perikles

I can smell smoke too. It's 39º here.

There is a fire in the Abama region, but I've not posted because it's not clear how severe it is, nor where they mean by "Abama area".
