The Guardia Civil has arrested a 24-year-old man at Tenerife Sur airport for trying to smuggle over a kilo of heroin which he had swallowed. The man arrived off a flight from the mainland and is said to come originally from Guinea. The police's suspicions were aroused when he became nervous at being asked for his documentation, and an x-ray was carried out. This showed that he was carrying 110 capsules, and he was taken to Candelaria hospital to wait for him to pass them. He is now being processed by the judicial authorities. JA
