This guy is getting to be a nuisance.

Hey, guess what, people. This afternoon we played bridge with a couple of German women who are swallows, and we played with them all last winter as well. This was the first meet-up since Easter. Now when we started playing around a year or so ago, we met her husband once, but then they split up and we never saw him again.

So what? Well, we asked how the summer had been bla bla and she reported that the summer had been a bit of a nightmare mainly because of the behaviour of that arsehole of an ex-husband. Why? Because he was still living in Tenerife and had spent the summer getting lost in the mountains and being rescued by helicopters. All this had involved millions of phonecalls to her in Germany, negociating with the Tenerife emergency services.

Not only were there two occasions involving helicopter rescue, but there was a third time when he was lost, but stumbled across a farm, and they called the police who escorted him home. That one was never reported.

What a small world.  :cheesy: :cheesy:

She should of bought him a gps and compas as a farewell present before getting rid of him , so he would not have gotten lost .  :)

Janet

or just been glad that the idiot had finally really got lost ... :D

The sneeky thing to do when she heard he was missing would have been to phone the cops and tell them, 'He's turned up. He's fine. He's right beside me.'  :giggle:

The first helicopter rescue arrived just in time. He was so dehydrated they reckoned he would not have lasted many more hours. They took him to hospital but after one night discharged himself against medical advice. He got a taxi home, got there and collapsed. The following day a concerned friend called round to see him and getting no response, reported him missing again, resulting in more phonecalls to Germany!! That was in addition to the 3 times he really had gone missing.  :cheesy:

She told us that she had spent a week in Venice, forgetting to take her mobile with her. When she got back home, she found 27 missed calls from Tenerife, from police, friends and others.

and she said he was proud of it all. Proud! Not of going missing, but of being fit and healthy enough at his age to get into the scrape in the first place! He doesn't recognize that anyone has done anything out of the ordinary ... quite clearly feels he is entitled ...

She said "fit and healthy enough, yes ... physically ... ", and then tapped the side of her head ... :D

Michael

I don't understand his pride.

If I took up hill walking in the Mournes and I had to be rescued 3 times, I would definitely think 'i'm not very good at this' and take up some other method of keeping fit.
