My mortgage has been cheaper the past two months. Could this be why?

Yes Marion I would think so. Ours went down by about €58 a month. Not all banks stopped it, stealing the money to the bitter end. Now it would seem that all banks have to stop the illegal activity. But as Janet has pointed out they get to keep their ill gotten gains courtecy of the judge :021:

Well. Whatever reason it was, it's gone the right way. Not that the bank would give you a reason or anything. That would be too simple!

Guanche

They didn't tell us either Marion they just stopped taking the money!

Well spurred on after a TV story on Monday about two brothers from the Peninsula who have recently made their bank pay them out (Sorry don't know where or which bank) The wife together with her nephew have gone to Santa Cruz to file the last complaint with the Banking Ombudsman. Apart from going to a lawyer, which we will not do as its not really worth it, this is the last avenue open for us. So again watch this space.

Well denuncia lodged with the consumer protection dept. Now we wait for three weeks and do it all again and again, every three weeks!
Visit to the bank fill a form out in triplicate get one stamped and take it to the consumer dept and lodge the papers there. I assume by the end of the year we will have our own drawer in a filing cabinet!

Just received a letter from our bank acknowledging the receipt of the 'denuncia' from the consumer protection office. They state that they are working to resolve all problems in relation to the 'Clause' and apologize for all the inconvenience caused to us and hope the service we have received from them up to now is satisfactory. I feel like replying I would be a lot more satisfied if they just coughed up..... but I won't :)

Pretty much a standard letter I would think, but at least we don't have to bother putting a second denuncia in. So again watch this space.

Guanche, it seems that something might be done regionally ... there was a report in the Spanish press yesterday, and now THIS in English today.
