It would appear, according to the wife, that all the political parties have signed an 'Agreement'? to strip him of his title.

Meanwhile, his details have been erased from the monarchy's website ....

And the clock is ticking as he was only given 5 days to come up with the cash! Wonder if they have taken his passport off him?

All streets and Plazas named after this man have now been removed and will be re-named next week. And an official request has been made directly to the king requesting that the title of Duke is removed from all official papers.

Oh yeah, so it was a guilty verdict then?

Oh sorry, I forgot, a public figure without support of a political party. Oh boy is he going to pay for this ..... very publicly.

Not sure I fully follow you post Prof. The Spanish justice system follows a very different course than the British system. Much of the evidence against this man seems (and I stress seems) to be in the public domain already and seems to be openly discussed on the Tv. I don't profess to understand it but his guilt seems to be a foregone conclusion. What seems to be in question is how guilty he is. After all even the Kings disowned him!

I don't feel at all sorry for the guy. He was obviously using his 'royal' status to cut a lot of corners, putting everybody else and the King at risk. The monarchy can't afford the scandal. The sums involved are not so great, but that's not the point.

I't in the high millions though P. And I think most of it has, allegedly, been appropriated from charities. One of them being a children's charity. I must add I haven't been following it too closely so my info is second hand. The rest of the money is from the public purse.

There is no question that he is a first class louse and a despicable thief and he will get what's coming to him. I would never defend him.
It's just that there are hundreds of them doing this and worse with relative impunity. Some on this island (nice little children's "business") .
But I wanted to point out that in this case his "royal status" is going to backfire on him.
I think he is just a bit stupid. He is in an environment where everyone is on the make, but if you are married to the King's daughter it isn't a good idea to join in. Silly boy .... they will crucify him.
