Janet feel free to use any of the stories I post about my family as examples.

Just today one of my brother in laws (57 and unemployed after working solidly for 39 of those years) told us that his 29 year old son and his girlfriend will be moving back to live with them. They had a flat but the unemployment benefit has run out (after they were made redundant) and they have both been refused 'Help'. His other 31 year old son and his girlfriend are being supported entirely by her family after being refused 'help' But they are struggling so they may have to split. Her to her parents and him back to the nest.

The brother in laws dole runs out in April. So if the worst happens, there will be the brother in law his wife their 15 year old son who is still in school. and his two older brothers and possibly one girlfriend living in a small 3 bed flat surviving on 400€ to 450€ a month.
They still have to pay the rates, community charge, well everything!

Well they were supposed to phone today to record the interview for Wednesday, but there's been no phone call so I don't know whether they've decided not to do the piece, or to do it without me, or whether they'll call tomorrow, or even call on Wednesday to do it live ...

I haven't got an issue if they've decided to drop the piece. I was prepared to do the interview rather than wanting to do it. I wouldn't mind at all if I knew, but it's the not being informed that's the issue. I've done some thinking, some research, made some notes, psyched myself up ... and the irritating thing is that they must know that their "expert interviewees" must do this.

I remember this in the UK before we left. No-one ever ever ever called back. I know we criticize Spain for this fault, but it's been like this in the UK for as long as I can remember and I disliked it then, and it seems nothing has changed. Totally uncivilized behaviour.

I agree. When Radio 4 demonstrates uncivilized behaviour, what is the point in anything?

I detest that kind of behavior. Unfortunately, i've come up against it innumerable times here in the UK.

Sounds like business as usual in the UK.  Problem is, they do not want to give bad news, and they will avoid doing it at all costs.  Therefore, if the piece was cancelled, there's not a one of them who would have the guts to inform you lest they be blamed.  It really is a lack of manners.

I just checked the listing for tomorrow's show and it's nothing to do with Tenerife.  I wonder why they decided to scrap it
