Mobile contracts

I've been driving myself mad with this one.

I'm trying to get a phone contract with unlimited calls that comes with a usable smartphone (Samsung Galaxy J7 or J5 looks best atm) for around €30-€40. I found that exact thing on the Phone House website but you can't buy online in the Canaries, then I found a similar thing on Oranges website but none of the phones I wanted could be bought on contract without already having a Spanish mobile number to transfer over.

Vodaphone contracts are too expensive with unlimited calls and we dont get great Movistar coverage up here.

Any ideas? My Spanish still isn't strong enough to be able to walk into a store and try unless I know they will speak english!

In my experience mobile contracts in Tenerife are much more expensive than in the UK. All mobile providers have their plans on their websites so you shouldn't need to go in and ask until you've chosen the one you want.  Besides Orange and Vodafone I suggest you check out Movistar, Mas Móvil, Hits, Lebara. I'm on Movistar fusion which bundles mobile, landline and internet into one service and one bill. I also made the decision a few years ago to just buy the phone I wanted and then choose a mobile plan, rather than being stuck with a plan that includes a premium to repay the phone long after the phone itself has been repaid.
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

I think buying the phone separately looks like the way to go. We did look at getting fusion as we already have movistar, but they wanted to double our bill as we cant get any of the online offers as we don't have fibre up here yet.

So now I'm searching for a handset I can get on finance, so far El Corte Inglés looks like it may be a good option.

Have a look at Worten's site for phones too @Matt:link:

Until I had to tranfer my mobile to Movistar (Fusion package) I was on Hits Mobile which was wonderful.  Great coverage, you can top up online, and cheeeeeeeeap.  I once had to make a call to the USA and was on the line nearly half an hour, and it cost me a little over a euro.

As Nova says, check out Movistar because if you have a landline you might be able to include a mobile in your package. And as Myrtle says, check Worten for the phone!
