The Centro Hípico del Sur equestrian centre in Buzanada will be home this weekend to a national show jumping championship that will bring international-level riders from all over the country to the Canaries. The competition has now been held here for 17 years, and since last year is a 2-star level. The event takes place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 25-27 August, at 5pm. Entry is free.

Arona Ayuntamiento says that the Centro Hípico del Sur is one of the pioneers of equestrianism in the Canaries, having started in 1990. Currently, it organizes four competitions a year at a high level, with riders from throughout the islands competing alongside those from the mainland. The centre occupies some 12 acres divided into three working and two competition courses, a racetrack and ample external and internal spaces. It complies with all environmental and quality regulations, and is supervised by Seprona, the environmental and animal welfare division of the Guardia Civil.

I love show jumping.  One of my dads friends owned mister softee. He was a great show jumper.

wow, and indeed he was! We were neighbours once with the Broome family (neighbours in the countryside sense so a few miles away) and friendly with them since we had a couple of horses and my cousin showjumped.
