The extremely popular Ruta del Almendro en flor organized by Santiago del Teide Ayuntamiento will take place next Saturday, 28 January. The walk regularly attracts large numbers, and a look at the photos HERE from previous years will easily give an idea of why.

Full details will be announced on Monday, when inscription opens, but in previous years there have been two routes, a short low-medium difficulty one of three hours from Valle de Arriba and a longer high difficulty one of four and a half hours from Santiago del Teide's town plaza. Both routes generally leave in groups from 8.30am, and the Ayuntamiento require walkers to register in advance for reasons of organization with is a symbolic charge of €5.

I'll update with any further information as it's announced but for now the council has provided 922-86-31-27 ext 234 as the number to call for specific details.

The council has now opened registration for the walk, and as expected, is charging a nominal €5 simply to control numbers because places are limited. Unlike previous years, all those wanting to participate must register by phone to the number provided by the council, i.e. 922-86-31-27 ext 234.

The council confirms that there will again be two routes, a 4 and a half hour long "difficult" walk leaving from the plaza in Santiago del Teide, and a 3 hour short "low-medium difficulty" walk leaving from El Calvario de Los Baldíos in El Valle de Arriba. Both will start from 8.30am with walkers leaving in groups, and heading through the Reserva Natural Especial del Chinyero to the arrival point at Arguayo.
