This weekend, the Santa Cruz Museo de la Naturaleza y el Hombre (museum of Nature and Man) is host to the first edition of Despacio Museo Market (Slow Museum Market), an event the museum calls an attempt to reroute the commercialism of Christmas shopping into something much more human-paced and meaningful. It's essentially an artisan fair, but in the museum itself, where the history and background of Canarian artisanry can be enjoyed at multiple levels at once. And of course, there is the opportunity to buy some very particular, individual and characteristically Canarian presents.

The market will be open Saturday and Sunday, 26 and 27 December, from 10am (closing at 8pm on Saturday, 4pm on Sunday). The museum is very easy to find, just a few minutes walk from the Plaza de España in one direction and the main bus station in the other, or the second stop on the tram route, Fundación, is virtually on the corner of the museum, and the buses 14, 26, 228 and 901 all stop outside. There is more information about the market and participants/exhibitors, and about the museum itself HERE, and the video below will give a taste of the event.
