Adeje Ayuntamiento has committed to stamping out illegal massages on the municipality's beaches and promenades. Information posters will be set up and leaflets distributed to beach users advising of the dangers the activity can represent.

Mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, health councillor Rafael Dolado García, and the general secretary of the Colegio de Fisioterapeutas de Canarias Manuel Betencor Pérez gave a press conference today in which they launched their campaign: they said the intention was not just to preserve the health of the public but of Adeje itself, and to commit to its good touristic image. They stressed that the only person who is accredited to carry out massage is a professional physiotherapist.

Information posters and leaflets will be in several languages and will be highly visible throughout the area. Once the information campaign is underway, a programme of fines will be instigated for anyone carrying out massages, they announced. JA
