Everyone's heard of the Las Galletas half marathon of course, but now, the Tenerife marathon! The first Maratón Internacional Santa Cruz de Tenerife will be run on 16 November in Santa Cruz itself. The race will be divided into three different length courses, of 8, 21 and 42 km, all passing through or by the city's main squares and monuments. For those wanting to take part  the full website is HERE: prospective runners should note that there is a discount for registration by the 31st of August, after which entry fees rise. The same website also contains many details of the race and events of interest to those who just want to be in at the first of what is likely to become a major annual national event in marathon running. The marathon also has a Facebook page HERE, and a twitter account HERE. JA

With thanks to the turtle for tipping me the wink!

We are already signed up to this madness.   I am wimping out and doing the 8k race.  It has a very long pull uphill from the bottom of La Salle which is going to be tough.  During the registration the system wanted to know if I would take longer than 25 minutes to complete the course (we'll be staged according to anticipated finish times) and strangely 'Fuck yes' was not an answer.  Anyway I shall report in when it's done!

Just a reminder about this event next weekend, and to say that I understand that the normal Sunday rastro in Santa Cruz will be held on Saturday instead of Sunday because of the marathon.

OH finished in good time despite an injury.  The woman who impersonated me due to my injury turned in a great performance.

It was a lovely event, enjoyed by the multitudes.

Yes, my friend Sarah ran wearing my number.  Strictly not allowed but happens all the time.  I got the t-shirt, she got the medal.
