Traffic jam on coast road between Playa San Juan and Armeñime

We had an appointment at the vet in Playa San Juan at 11.00 today and when we came off the road which goes between Tejina and Aguadulce got a shock as the coast road heading in the direction of Armeñime from Playa San Juan was at a dead stop nearly all the way to PSJ.  45 minutes later we returned and the road was clear.  Whoopee!  Actually whoops, as the cops had shut the coast road and directed all traffic back up the road to Tejina, where people who wanted to go southbound then had to go onto the TF-82.  What a mess.

So something big is going on on our little island and I hope @Janet will give us a clue in due course.
