The Tenerife Cabildo says it's delighted with the way in which Tenerife is becoming a world reference point for some top-class sporting activity, and the above video gives a wonderful taste of the sorts of things that are available here. Upcoming events include:

Some of the best windsurfers in the world at the fourth world championships to be held here between 3 and 10 August in El Médano.  More information HERE.


The Tenerife Walking Festival between 10 and 14 March next year will be a great meeting open to walkers from all over Europe. Come with your usual hiking group, your family or your children. Choose from 15 excursions in three categories: Coastal, Volcanic and Green covering the island's huge variety of landscapes from wild beaches to lush mountain trails and passing through breathtaking volcanic landscapes. Tenerife Blue Trail is the quintessential Tenerife trail, and it's back, an intense experience for lovers of trail running on 18 October. The big attraction is the Teide ascent plus there are four race formats, with different categories for runners with or without disabilities and different levels of experience and fitness. All are welcome to join in this mountain race – the highest in Spain and the second highest in Europe – running through some of the most unique, stunning landscapes in the world.
