Chirche Day of traditions 13 July

Guía de Isora has announced the XIV edition of its Day of Traditions, held in Chirche this coming Sunday, 13 July. The programme is:

10 a.m., arrival of the invited groups: "Parranda" La Escuela de Igueste de Candelaria; La Parada de El Rincón', Youth Association (Valsequillo), which will be accompanied by craftsmen of forge, cane and ticker baskets, embroidery and making objects of palm and rye; and the shepherd jumping group Tagoror Chiregua (La Orotava).

From 10:30, different demonstrations and exhibitions in the village's courtyards, houses, streets and square. There will be a huge range of these, including wheat toasting, openwork, needlework, dance with singing groups "parrandas", ironing, coffee roasting, basketry, "bofio" grinding, healer, kneaded and baked bread, wine pressing, goat milking, threshing, everything, in fact, concerning traditional life in a Canarian village.

From 2pm, the closing ceremony in the square will include a staging of "A wedding and dancing of old times".

There will be free transport to Chirche by minibus which will leave Guía de Isora (opposite the Guardia Civil) for Chirche every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. JA
