The collective Almonedas de Tenerife will be holding a fair of restored traditional items between 15 and 20 April at the Museum of History in the Casa El Capitan in San Miguel town. The group is made up of a range of business professionals of different nationalities, and to encourage restoring, recycling, and reusing. They also donate to charity, and all donations taken at the door will go to the local Red Cross and Cáritas: volunteers from both charities will be on site informing on their activities and manning workshops to entertain children while their parents browse the fair and museum exhibits, or visit the onsite cafe.

There will be a variety of stalls exhibiting and selling all sorts of antiques, vintage and collector's items, including textiles, porcelain, furniture, glass, photographical items, bric-a-brac, paintings in oil, watercolours, sculpture, vintage clothes handbags and accessories, postcards, and rustic decorative pieces. The fair will be open between 4-9pm on the 15th and 16th, and midday to 9pm on the 17th to 20th.

The old main streets of San Miguel de Abona were recognized by the government and given special historical status last year – they are now a Bien de Interés Cultural. The Casa El Capátan is part of this historic scene in the old part of town. There's a map below for how to get there. The museum, however, is well sign-posted, and there is free parking along the main road above and below. JA
