Thieves get away with “considerable haul” from Torviscas jewellery shop break-in

The Diamonds International jewellery shop on the main road through Torviscas, Avda Ernesto Sarti, was burgled around 4am this morning by thieves who cut through the outside metal grille before forcing the front door and making off with what police say is a considerable haul. The store, near the hotel Luabay (formerly Esmeralda), is one of a chain owned by an Indian business established in south Tenerife for many years. Police have taken fingerprints and photos, and say that a main early strand of their investigation will be to see if there are similarities with other robberies  over the past few months, and therefore to establish whether the burglary was carried out as part of an organized crime wave.
