Costa Adeje Market – Mercado del Atlantico – opposite the El Duque Commercial Centre has been upgraded, benefiting traders and public alike. Recently, Adeje mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, accompanied by Adeje's tourism councillor Rafael Dolado García, called into the market to see the changes for himself, and joined in welcoming and praising the results of the works.

Mayor Fraga said, "we are visiting a market that is very modern, one that has adapted to the needs and demands of today. The company responsible for the market has recognised that in the overall move to renovate the tourist destination every business in the sector has to be involved in the change. Congratulations are in order for the work carried out which, without doubt, will also bring positive results for the traders".

The company behind the market, Mercadillo del Atlántico S.L., invested over half a million euros in the upgrade, which included a completely new tarmac base and 200 new marquees. These marquees were ordered from Germany specifically for the market and are of the highest quality. The perimeter of the market was also regulated to increase security and improve the management of the zone. The photo above (there are a couple more on my website), courtesy of Adeje Ayuntamiento, give a good ide of what the new market looks like.

The market is open on Thursdays and Saturdays, from 9am to 2pm, and is visited by up to 4,000 daily, both tourists and residents. JA
