The Cabildo has announced that Operativo Nevadas will be in place again this weekend to control traffic using Teide access roads to allow the public to get to the still abundant snow in the national park safely. The operation will be in place Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 between 9am and 6pm. Access will be via the Chio or Granadilla-Vilaflor routes; once past the Teleférico, traffic must descend via La Orotava. The TF-24 La Esperanza remains closed while snow clearing continues. The Guardia Civil will have various checkpoints to ensure that the public abides by the operativo, and says that fines can be issued to drivers who do not respect signals or instructions. Titsa will again be running its #342 route twice each day between the Costa Adeje terminal and the Parador.

The details of Operativo Nevadas were agreed in a meeting today between Tenerife president Carlos Alonso and representatives of the security, environment, and roads services, as well as of the Parque Nacional del Teide, Guardia Civil, Tráfico, AEA (Ayuda en Emergencias Anaga), Cruz Roja, and the Canarian emergency services. Further information is available on the Cabildo's website www.tenerife.es, in the official Diario de Tenerife www.diariodetenerife.info, or by calling the Centro de Atención al Ciudadano on 901.501.901. The roads information centre (CIC) is available on 900.210.131 and at www.cic.tenerife.es. JA
