There's trouble on the buses, or there will be soon, it appears. Titsa has started proceedings to lay off 117 workers and to put around 1,600 more on half time hours ... with part time pay, of course. The company is looking to make huge savings in the economic crisis amid funding cuts and says that it will also cut back some urban lines, cutting some out altogether, as well as put prices up around 5% this year.

Titsa's quality and environment director,  Manuel Franco, said said that the company simply had no choice, and that it had to look to all areas to try to save money and eliminate inefficiency. Sr Franco confirmed that Titsa was not just studying the viability of certain lines ... but much more, covering the whole of Tenerife. JA

How can Titsa be suffering the crisis?  I would have thought that with so many people now struugling to afford their cars, the public transport companies should be booming!  And it isn't as if Titsa has any competition in Tenerife  :undecided:
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

It's because it's Cabildo owned and partly funded by the authorities, and they've made serious cuts in the funding.
