A 38-year-old woman was killed overnight in Guaza in what is apparently a case of domestic violence. Her killer, who police say is her 31-year-old partner, fatally stabbed her and then attempted suicide by throwing himself off the roof terrace of their apartment block. He is now in Candelaria  hospital in critical condition, under police guard. JA

Diario de Avisos is reporting that the poor woman who was killed was Venezuelan, and her partner and presumed killer was Mexican, identified as Guillermo Henández. Their landlady, Sara Ramos, said that the couple appeared to have a normal relationship, and were not heard arguing.

Sra Ramos added that she thought the man had fallen while trying to fix a TV aerial and that she tried to reassure him that he would be cared for in hospital: he was only half conscious at the time. It was when she unsuccessfully tried to get hold of his poor victim that she started to think something worse had happened.

The Guardia Civil subsequently found the body of the woman, whose throat had been cut. She had two sons, of 20 and 13 years of age, from a previous relationship, and it seems she might have died a few days ago. JA
