It's the ultimate Christmas ballet, loved by children and adults alike since its first performance in St Petersburg on 18 December 1892, and it's in Tenerife South for Christmas. It has been staged here on many previous years by many different companies, and this year Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker will be performed by the Escuela Municipal de Música y Danza de Arona and the Escuela Municipal de Folclore de Arona in the Auditorio Infanta Leonor in Los Cristianos on on Monday, 23 December. The ballet features some of the most famous and memorable music ever written, and it's most decidedly a show not to be missed. The performance starts at 7pm and tickets, priced at €2, are available from the auditorium's café between 9am and 9pm, all days of the week. Above is a short video of the Moscow Ballet's version to set the scene.

That explains the ticket price.  We saw it performed by the Moscow Ballet two years at the Magma and I can assure you the tickets were a lot more expensive.

They were €35, if memory serves me right ...

Yes, about that.  Well worth it as it is such an enchanting ballet.

I can't go a Christmas Eve without watching the DVD at least !
