A woman has drowned after falling into the sea at Playa Paraiso just before 11am this morning. Emergency services were called out with reports of the incident, but say that despite extensive rescue and resuscitation efforts, she was found to be in cardiac arrest and died after being transferred to Hospitén Sur. Involved in what was hoped to be a rescue but which turned out to be a recovery were a GES search and rescue helicopter,  a lifeboat, bomberos, Guardia Civil, Policía Local, and Protección Civil. The cause of the initial accident is still unknown. JA

Why cardiac arrest rather than drowning?  Is that the effects of the cold water shock on impact or does it just mean her heart had stopped, ie. she was dead when they got there?
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

It's a known feature of cold water shock, but of course she could have fallen in because she had had a heart attack ...
