This coming Saturday, 1 September, will see the first Carrera de Montaña San Miguel de Abona Vida Trail. This mountain race will cover two of the most emblematic routes in the San Miguel area, those of Las Lajas and Fuente de Tamaide-La Hoya, of 10 and 21 km respectively.

The presentation of the event, in San Miguel town hall, was made by San Miguel mayor Valentín González, municipal tourism councillor Candelaria Flores, and sports councillor Julián Martín. Mayor González said that the new race was hoped to unify health and sport promotion, as well as to promote some of the area's unique corners – through, added Sra Flores and Sr Martín, routes that have been used since the middle of the 19th century.

If you would like to take part or just more details of how to go along as a spectator, please go to Vida Trail direct HERE, or www.trailsanmiguel.com JA

It's a year since San Miguel inaugurated this mountain race and now it will be run for a second time on 7 September. There are two routes as last year: Las Lajas and Fuente de Tamaide-La Hoya, of 10 and 21 km respectively. Those interested can now register, at a cost of €10 or €20 depending on route: the application form is HERE.

Nope, not mountain trails and cross country.  That's for the crazy people.  Actually, pretty fit people.
