Adeje Ayuntamiento says that it is continuing to prioritize upmarket and niche tourism by developing standards for walkers in the municipality with the announcement by environment councillor Esther Rivero Vargas that four routes now have trilingual signage providing a range of information in Spanish, English and German. The routes are La Quinta-Aserradero-Ifonche; La Quinta-Boca del Paso-Adeje; Adeje-Boca del Paso-Ifonche; and el Camino de la Virgen.

Sra Rivero Vargas explained that more routes will follow, but that these have been chosen because of their incredible beauty and resulting immense popularity both with residents and tourists. It sounds simple and basic, but I don't think anyone should underestimate the mindset that is now promoting the rural or "green" tourism" niche market in the municipality ... and indeed the information that needs to be provided for it. This is a problem with all such initiatives on this island. Funding is available for a one-off good idea and is never followed up by maintenance. A couple of years back, some effort was invested in clearing and marking some walks in Guia. Now, with no maintenance, some of them are impenetrable and a lot of their signs are unreadable in any language. They have a knack of wasting money like this.  :-[
