This article caught my eye because of the verb malvender which I have not come across before. It reports on the export of large amounts of gold from Spain via all these shops springing up everywhere which buy second-hand gold stuff, and everybody selling off grandma's gold to keep themselves going. It appears that the Canaries are exporting the most. I find this rather sad.

Now if I had a lot of money and would want it out of the contry and safe from devaluation (and gouvernment) what a good idea to make a company that buys gold and sends it to Switserland .

Even if my building company went broke noboby could trace it . . . .

Hey nobody even cares if its more than 2500 euro value in cash euros :) .

And as for the value it went up these last 5 years they started it and they won a lot .

Those who sold only lost . . . .
Also they are only payd the value or raw gold (even a bit less) and when they sort it in Switserland a lot has more value as its already made in juwels or coins (some even antique) .

I read also somewere some time ago that it was the number 2 export produckt of the Canaries in 2012 .
No wonder the banks are broke . . . . .

How did people in the Canaries come to own so much gold I wonder?

What is standard here - 18k?

A lot of people we know have sold their gold. My mother in law has sold hers. The fact that the Canaries exports the most could point to the state of the economy in the islands.
On the peninsular I would suspect that these gold dealers could just drive to Switzerland without fear of being stopped so they may not be declaring their exports? just guessing :undecided:
