Mercadona withdraws certain Deliplus range cosmetic products for safety reasons

Mercadona has withdrawn eleven cosmetic products from its own brand Deliplus range because they contain two components,  Triethanolamine and Bronopol, which should not be included. Health Department Sanidad said that when combined, Triethanolamine and Bronopol can produce nitrosamine, a carcinogen, but stressed that the withdrawn products did not pose any risk for consumers because of the small quantities used in the Deliplus products. Legislation, however, required that they were withdrawn.

The products concerned have been redesigned to substitute the problematic ingredients. They include an olive-oil body cream and one for hands, aloe vera body moisturisers, almond foot cream, and various after-sun lotions. Manufacturing laboratory RNB has issued a press release "absolutely guaranteeing" that all products are safe. JA

Who would buy cosmetics with a brand name that sounds more like it was meant for cold meats?  :undecided:
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

I only have one of them.  Any idea if Mercadona is offering refunds or exchanges? :2confused:

As of yesterday, the Puerto Santiago branch was denying all knowledge of the story! Diana McGlone has a Spanish source from me to take into the branch and is reporting their response back to me later  - probably tomorrow now because it's a bank holiday today.

Thing is that there are replacement products out, probably looking the same, just with different list of ingredients, so is it possible you actually have the new one with the substitute ingredients??

No, I checked, and the offending ingredients are listed.   :kc020:

Then they have to refund/exchange - the conbination of those ingredients is specifically against the law. This is why they've been withdrawn. That's a "give me my money or a replacement ... or the complaints book" job ...

It would be interesting to know for how long it has been "specifically against the law".
