A 56-year-old German walker died this morning after falling some eight metres while hiking in the Barranco de Masca. Emergency services say that they were called out around 11.30am with reports that the man had been injured in a fall, and a GES search and rescue helicopter was dispatched to locate and assist him. He was found in cardiac arrest and with serious multiple injuries, and after the helicopter crew started resuscitation attempts and immobilized him, he was airlifted to the El Marino football field in Los Cristianos where an ambulance was waiting for him. Sadly, however, all efforts to save his life were unsuccessful and he was declared dead on arrival at Hospitén Sur.

We saw the helicopter go overhead; I nearly posted.  Sadly I would have been pretty accurate.

I've just registered that this is the second fatality in this barranco within the space of a month. At the end of September a 57-year-old Norwegian walker died there, as I posted HERE.
