Woman dies as car falls to El Socorro beach

A 52-year-old La Laguna woman died last night after her car plunged some 40m off an access road to the beach at El Socorro in the Los Realejos municipality. The accident, which happened around 9pm, appears to have been caused by the woman trying to reverse to turn her car around to rejoin the TF5 since the road she was on was closed for an open-air summer film screening. La Orotava bomberos attended the scene but sadly she had died in the impact after being thrown from the vehicle in its fall.
