The Tenerife Walking Festival starts tomorrow, and as usual, the public is invited to some free events that are taking place in addition to the walks themselves. In preparing for the start this morning, Tenerife vice president and Tourism councillor Alberto Bernabé said that the event was one that had matured over time and was now something of which the Tenerife Cabildo was very proud. Bernabé confirmed that in this growing niche market, this year will see 210 participants of 12 nationalities in the festival, all of whom "will be able walk a selection of 20 of the most striking routes in Tenerife".

Bernabé was accompanied by the mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Lope Afonso, who expressed his gratitude for his town being chosen as the focus venue for the festival for the third year running. Afonso said this was "because Puerto de la Cruz is the destination that many nature-loving tourists choose" and which has in turn meant that the municipality and many of its hotels has committed specifically to this type of tourism.

In addition to the walks, supplementary activities will include talks on Thursday 25th in Teatro Timanfaya, a photo exhibition starting tomorrow in the Castillo de San Felipe, and on Saturday 27th the grand finale will take place in the town with an active tourism fair, cooking demonstrations, local produce tastings, and much more. Saturday will be a good day to be in Puerto de la Cruz!
