well it seems to me that they're all claiming victory! The pro-independence lot have won the most seats, but the anti-independence parties got the majority of the vote ... but it's the pro-secession ones who'll form the government.

But there is still no plebiscite. More than 50% of the people who actually voted rejected independence.

You can be sure they'll ignore that detail.

indeed they will, as does any party in the UK who forms a government with a "majority" ... but who failed to get the majority of votes possible, either through votes for other parties or abstentions. It's the abstentions, seems to me, that gives these parties the mandate because they can argue that if people felt strongly enough against them they would vote, which is probably true. In yesterday's case, though, the turnout was pretty high!
