all of the benefits which are attached to my Darling missus, from Moldova but carrying a Romanian passport (therefor a EU resident) she has worked properly for the last ten years, or so paying S.S. Benefits she will fall short of the time elements making her entitled to a State Pension whenever she reaches the date when is due to retire. As a consequence of the rules of engagement, onreaching the age of retirement she will be entitled to a fraction of the full Social Pension. The minimum amount paid to a fully paid up Resident or Passport holder is omewhere in the region of 900 euro, at the moment. She will receive about 380 euro pcm whilst every person picked up from the beaches etc as am immigrant, who has paid not one centimo into the system historically, prior to obtaining financial support, Paro and any other handout available and so long as every 23 months or so presents herself available for work and the State makes suitable contributions for SS, that person will get the full pension Mrs. T. will pick up the basic.

RIGHT or WRONG?

You tell me, please.

Which country are you talking about here Mr Lish?

Myrtle Hogan-Lance

I'd say wrong, no matter which country it is.

If the country is Spain, do the illegal immigrants actually get support for life?  (In the UK I am pretty certain the answer is yes but not sure about Spain given that even people who have worked can only get paro for two years.)

I've moved this from the Introductions section to the Spain section for discussion. I presume timmylish is talking about Spain because this is where he says he lives, and because he mentions a pension sum in Euros.

Is it correct that an "immigrant, who has paid not one centimo into the system historically, prior to obtaining financial support, Paro and any other handout available and so long as every 23 months or so presents herself available for work and the State makes suitable contributions for SS, that person will get the full pension "?

Spain has a system where any entitlement to state help is based on contributions made, as opposed to the UK, where the entitlement is residence based, so anyone residing in the country can get medical cover or benefits appropriate to their situation. Here, however, even those who make basic level autonomo payments for decades don't get a full pension (they only get that if they pay an increased social security amount) so I find it difficult to credit that non-contributors get a full one ...

maybe the @Prof could help, he knows the system as well as anyone here ...

edit: this isn't intended to insult timmylish, who may know far more about the system! but I don't know the level of assurance in his post.

In Ireland you can phone a number and request a statement of stamps/contributions paid. It'll come in the post in a couple of weeks............then go to CitizensAdvice office and they'll tell you how much you'll be entitled to when you reach the appropriate age.
You can plan properly and also purchase up to 5 or 10 years contritutions........also other options, depending on your circumstances. :tiphat:
