Calima from tomorrow, bringing wind and dirty air especially over next weekend

Meteorologists say that from tomorrow a calima should become noticeable, picking up throughout the week. Apart from a welcome rise in temperatures, it will bring all the usual airborne dust and pathogens, so anyone with breathing problems needs to be careful and sure to have any medication to hand. This will be particularly important from Friday, when the wind will pick up considerably. It may produce some very strong gusts throughout the weekend together with an increase of dust particles. JA

Roll on the dust! I'm fricken freezing here! After the 20deg of last week it's turned cool with a cold wind dragging the temp even futher down. Clouds right down over the mountains and very light spitting rain. Thought I'd done with the electric heater but it's back out again.

We've had the log fire burning every day this year so far, though the last week or so it's only been in the evenings, and the duvet's still on the bed ... but I'll take the cold if it means not breathing crappy sand ... :scowl:

But we'll have to take what we get, as usual ... I'll get shovelling the dirt out, brushing the sand, mopping the floor ...  ::)

Not sure if it's our elevation or the make up of the local terrain, the valley, but we never seem to gather much in the way of dust. When there is a clima we can obviously see it but rarely feel the effects of the dust. My eyes start itching and always give an up coming clima away. But they only start itching at sea level. That's cold comfort for people that do get the dust :)

I've found it varies ... sometimes they're low-lying and we're sort of above them, so I get the burny eyes and tight chest, but little dust, and other times, when it's "at altitude", it's just awful ...  :-X

Yes P I noticed when I drove back down from the north today that the clouds had settled in before 1430.  Prior to that it was lovely.  They settled over the entire east, south and west.

We always get boatloads of dust.  No sense cleaning house.  Any excuse, yippee!!!
