I don't know whether this is a change to the law and I can't be bothered to look, but as some of you might be fortunate enough to know, all cash transactions in the bank of €3,000 or more have so far required customer identification, of which the bank retains a photocopy.  As of today, this "trigger" amount has changed, in Santander at least, to €1,000.  So if anyone makes a withdrawal or deposit or cashes a cheque with a value of 1,000 euros or more, they must provide identification and the bank will keep a copy on file.

Just so you know  :tiphat:
