Given where they are, "authentic" is going to be difficult. If you want quality and can sacrifice Canarian authenticity, and are prepared to pay (lots), the Gran Reserva down the road (the other end of Calle Londres in Fañabé) has a superb reputation. The first map below shows the relative location of the hotel and the restaurant  (I've added them in, in red capitals). My own choice, though, would be to go to La Caleta for Canarian fish restaurants. Again not cheap, but certainly authentic, and definitely lovely. I would particularly recommend Calamarin. Second map ... HERE's the website, it's two restaurants in one. Be upstairs, and out on the terrace ...

These people are rich. The best food in the area is probably served in their hotel . . . very exclusive.

Take them for something special, like paella in the Rincón del Arroz in Los Cristianos. That's the only paella on the island.

I'd be tempted to drive over to La Caleta...
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

or of course, should have thought ... drive up to Adeje town for Canarian chicken at Oasis or Otele chicken shacks ...

Going to La Caleta - walk or drive?  Everybody is fit and healthy and NOBODY will be wearing heels.

Still too far ... much ... from the CC, it's a good 10, if not 15, minute drive.

FYI we ended up going to the Capri Italian restaurant in Fañabé, based on the recommendation of a friend who knows the area and eats out 6 nights a week.  Very good food and service.

And FYI the situation with the Iberostar Grand Hotel Salomé is similar to the Sensatori in the Gran Meliá in Alcalá:  no outward sign, it is an artificial designation like the Sensatori.   It is actually housed in the Anthelia.  Prof said they must be rich; they are not, but they do have a butler for the week!  I don't think they are too sure what to do with him.  He changes the towels and folds the toilet paper into a V every time they leave the room.

There was an amusing episode on the way to the Capri: we went past the restaurant where my next door neighbour works and he was outside on the door.  It took him a minute to register me when I said hello but then it was kisses and greetings and introductions all around.  Then he told me:  "I didn't recognise you because you look just like a guiri."  (guiri = derogatory word for foreigner or tourist)  Yes, I had done my hair and make up and made an effort with my appearance so clearly looked like a guiri.  I have decided to take it as the ultimate compliment that most of the time I do not look like a guiri.

NAH

Does that mean that anyone who has done their hair and make up and makes an effort with their appearance is seen as a Guiri by locals? This also implies that locals don't take any care in their appearance.

Glad you enjoyed your meal out.

Not sure!  Decided since he's my next door neighbour he deserves the benefit of the doubt!
