Just a reminder of the FCO advice videos page HERE, to which I've now added the one above. The Consulate says that is seeing a year on year overall increase in the number of Emergency Travel Documents that need to be issued in the Canaries due to lost or stolen passports, and the FCO has issued a video " Enjoy Your Holiday" which is designed to raise awareness and increase safety. Those who do lose their passport can apply for an emergency travel document, and the links to do that are HERE. JA

My passport goes into the safe in the hotel when I arrive and stays there till I leave.

I believe i'm supposed to carry it but i'll take my chances.

Same here.  Carrying it around is nuts.

I don't think you do need to carry it around by law, even if you are not resident. Police are only allowed to ask for ID if there is reasonable suspicion of criminal behaviour.** Seeing that being Irish is not a felony in itself, if you behave yourself there should be no problem.

**Not totally sure, but I think that's the situation.

One woman in that video said she'd lost everything.

QuoteCredit cards, debit cards, cash and jewelry.

How in God's name?  :017:

Who keeps everything in one bag and walks around with it?  :banghead:
