Madrid introduces really smart parking meters

meters which charge according to the emissions of the car parked. 4,500 new parking meters each costing €6,000. These "dynamic" meters will also alter their charges depending on the availablility of parking spaces at the time of parking.

The emissions bit seems a bit unfair and unnecessary, given that road tax should take this into account. I wonder which relatives of which politicians have got the massive contracts.
