Cyclist dies after being knocked down by car in Playa de las Américas

A 47-year-old cyclist died in Playa de las Américas this afternoon after being knocked down by a car. The accident happened minutes before 2pm in Avenida Los Pueblos, the road that runs past the Comisaría, Magma Centre and bus station to the Costa Adeje hospital, and the poor man had already died from his severe injuries when paramedics arrived. They could sadly do no more than confirm his death at the scene. JA

Very sad.  I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.  I don't even like driving in Las Americas - a toxic mix of inept locals, aggressive taxis and hapless tourists.
