The Telegraph reports that a British woman fell to her death on the Roque del Conde path.  It says

QuoteA rescue helicopter was scrambled just before 7pm local time on Tuesday after Harsha Kotecha, 62, plunged several feet while walking the Roque del Conde path in the south of the island.

Several feet?  Something fishy about that.

QuoteHer body was recovered shortly afterwards after one of the rescue team managed to descend on a rope to the spot where she had fallen.

Must have been quite a few feet.

Bless her. I have a healthy fear of heights.

[countdown=01,06,2021,13,30][/countdown] until I return to Tenerife!

Locally, the emergency services are saying that it was "a few metres and inaccessible" ... given the terrain, that's understandable. The FCO seems to have confirmed to the UK press that she's British, but they don't seem to have any other details ... all that's being said here is that she's "foreign", i.e. not Spanish.

I can't envisage any point on the way up which would have been inaccessible after a fall. But at the top there is one dangerous point where everybody has to stand to enjoy the view towards Teide, but which is a sheer drop of several metres to a place with no access (apart from that vertical one)
