Waitrose products in Iceland

We were in Iceland the other day (the one in Las Chafiras of course) which has been completely remodeled since the last time I was in there.  To my amazement, they are stocking Waitrose products.  I picked up Waitrose peanut butter, which was a few cents more expensive than SunPat, because I prefer the shape of the jar.  SunPat's shape makes it a nightmare to get all the peanut butter out.

As we went through I noticed other Waitrose products there too.  Any idea what gives?

Nova

They've always stocked products from Waitrose and other supermarkets, on and off, just now in the re-jig (which stressed me out no end) they seem to have arranged all the Waitrose branded items on the same section of shelving.

Don't forget the stores we have here are in no way affiliated with Iceland in the UK.  It's a company called "Overseas Imports" which uses the Iceland name and sign only to lure us in with familiarity and imports many Iceland-branded products, but since there is no affiliation to Iceland, they are independent and free to sell whatever brands they choose  :tiphat:
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

I understood it wasn't really Waitrose, just as Iceland (as Nova says) isn't really Iceland. I think it's a licensed use of the name ...

You're right, however, I can just imagine how a Waitrose manager would react to seeing their products associated with the Iceland brand.

I don't mind, as I never thought I'd see lovely Waitrose products in my house again.

There's a little shop at the back of the La Nina in Torviscas which we've used a fair bit.

The first year we noticed it, it was a Tesco Express. The next year it was an Asda. Now it's something else but still has a few non-perishable Tesco products in it.

Eh?  :giggle:

Or as we also call them, leftovers.  Check the expiration date!
