Despite what they were saying even up to last night, the latest this morning is quite incredible ... literally "incredible" - I can't believe it, anyway.

Police say that the investigation and initial forensic results indicate that this body (which let's remember was cut up and burnt) is that of a 50-year-old who had been reported missing, and who committed suicide.

Police say that although they initially considered the matter a criminal one, the investigation has turned around completely and now points to a suicide.

HERE's the link to C7 to see for yourselves!

Perhaps the family could not afford the absurd funeral costs. It reminds me of the anecdote of the Arab found dead in Golder´s Green with 56 stab wounds in his back. The police said it was the worst case of suicide they had ever seen.  :nut:

I'd like to see them try to demonstrate exactly how they think he killed himself, cut himself up and set himself on fire...  maybe a video reconstruction might help  :017:

Why am I thinking cover-up? Though you'd think they'd think up a better one than that   :-[  If their investigations have led them to a name or group that the police don't want to involve for whatever reason....  :undecided:
If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know amazing.

Odd isn't it. Cover up was my first thought, but even the police in Tenerife, even the locals let alone the Guardia, could come up with a better cover story than that!!

He died, apparently at his own hand, and then away from his family ... we must presume ... he was cut up and burnt, without his hands, so whoever did it didn't want his ID known. Might still be his family, of course ..... :undecided:

So who would want to chop up and burn a suicided body??  Surely unauthorised disposal of a body is still a crime?  And how do you tell from a few bits of burnt body that he killed himself?  Bizarre  :017:

I saw a programme last year - wish I could remember what it was - where a guy drugged himself, tied his own hands together and rolled into his own shallow grave, just for the sake of framing his wife and best friend, who he had discovered were having an affair.  But he didn't chop up or burn himself, and it was only on the telly  :nut:

Police have now confirmed this death as suicide. The poor soul seems to have set himself on fire, burned for hours in the barranco, and was finally "dismembered" by loose dogs and vermin. There is now no mention of the "cables" that were originally said to have bound his body, but police confirm the identity as a 51-year-old Taco man who had already tried to commit suicide at the turn of this year by drinking bleach. One hopes that this has not served to  precondition the police to make an assumption of suicide, because they were quite definite about those "cables" to begin with. JAA

Something just doesn't sit right, does it...  :undecided:

Drinking bleach is one thing, but burning yourself to death is a horrible way to go!  Surely jumping off a high rock would have been a preferred option.

My dad pointed out that the best way to commit suicide is with a hot bath and a bottle of whisky - I'd choose that one myself  :tiphat:

It doesn't feel right. They've clearly firmly identified him and suddenly the fact that he tried to kill himself a few months ago is relevant and the cables are not mentioned. They didn't melt in the fire because they were there as evidence in the first reports. So they couldn't be those plastic ones you can tie with your teeth. Why would he tie himself up to set himself alight? Makes no sense. I fear the police might be taking the easy way out here ...  :undecided:
