About Cookies

This site uses cookies, small text files that are placed on your machine to help the site provide a better user experience. In general, cookies are used to retain user preferences, store information for things like shopping carts, and provide anonymised tracking data to third party applications like Google Analytics. As a rule, cookies will make your browsing experience better. However, you may prefer to disable cookies on this site and on others. The most effective way to do this is to disable cookies in your browser. We suggest consulting the Help section of your browser or taking a look at the About Cookies website which offers guidance for all modern browsers.

How ChalkCat Uses Cookies

This forum software places a cookie, a text file containing bits of information (such as your username and password), in your browser's cache. This is ONLY used to keep you logged in/out. The software does not collect or send any other form of information to your computer.

Currently this website employs two different methods of monetization which are served only to unregistered guests. Registered members are exempted from both monetization methods as long as they are logged in to the site.

Google Adsense

This website uses Google Adsense to enable Google and other third-party vendors to serve ads based on your prior web browsing activity on this and other websites. In order to track and target ads effectively, Google uses a cookie called Double Click, which you can read about in detail here. Users may opt out of the use of the DoubleClick cookie for interest-based advertising by visiting Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendor's use of cookies for interest-based advertising by visiting For more information about how Google uses data gathered through cookies, please see How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.

Coinhive Javascript Miner

We are currently trialling this experimental method of utilising a small portion of our visitors' processing power to conduct mathematical calculations. These calculations contribute to the generation of digital money, otherwise known as "mining cryptocurrency". This cryptocurrency can then be exchanged for products and services online or directly exchanged for more traditional currencies such as Euro or Pound Sterling. Any revenue this brings ChalkCat will be used to help with our running costs.

Unlike advertising, this method does not track you or gather any personal information. Only your IP address is sent to the Coinhive servers where it is kept in RAM for a maximum of 48 hours. Please see Coinhive's privacy policy for more information. We believe that, done correctly, this method of monetization is more ethical and less intrusive than traditional methods such as advertising and, with this in mind, we have strived, and will continue to strive, to optimise this script to have minimal impact on your computer's resources whilst still generating revenue for this website. We thank you for your cooperation in participating in this trial and encourage you to use our Contact Form to advise us of any issues you may encounter from the use of this script. If you prefer not to participate, you can opt out by simply clicking on the mining banner at the bottom of the page.
