Just to the south-west, around 10 miles or so out to sea there's been a small but persistent area of cloud that just doesn't go away.
It's been there for months now and for the life of me, I can't think why. On colder days, I've seen rain under it.
It's not the prevailing wind, as it has varied quite a lot this year, and the cloud spot never shifts.
My OH says I'm bonkers to keep going on about it. Perhaps I am, but I like a puzzle.
It's called La Gomera. It's an island
It's Gomera that convinces me it's not the trade wind 'plume'
Over Gomera, the cloud is streaming north west, yet the patch south-west of Tenerife persists.
I can't say I've seen anything much this year, the visibility has been consistently bad from our altitude that we have hardly been able to see the sea at all. So I haven't noticed any regular feature.
I noticed it earlier in the year. On all but the bluest of blue-sky days, it's there.
I can only think of one thing that would make a fixed patch of sea warmer near a volcano.. and it can't be that!
==edit== I know that you lot will take the piss for ever more about 'my little patch' but I don't care. I'm curious...

is this anywhere near La Restinga, @minesadorada (http://chalkcat.com/index.php?action=profile;u=52) ?
Of course it's not there this morning..
..but if you were to project the Playa de Las Americas 'spur' out to sea about 10 miles or so, and a mile or so west - that's the spot I'm talking about.
You're not nuts Dorada, I've seen it too. The cloud cover we have had this summer is enough to drive anyone nuts though.
