Title: Endesa ...
Post by: Janet on Fri 25 Apr 2014, 11:22
There is a multiple choice of Endesa threads, and I didn't want this to get lost so it has its own thread. It's one of the worst companies by popular acclaim (very close behind Bankia - the absolute worst - and Movistar - so bad they had to change its name ... ), but I'm finding that they respond to twitter enquiries.

I follow their customer twitter account because they make announcements very occasionally that are useful, but that means I see all the crap they post too. But that "crap" is just crap because it's of no interest to me. It is of great interest to others though because the others are customers ... and Endesa respond! They actually seem to get things sorted out for people.

So if you want results, follow Endesa on twitter and tweet your enquiries. It might just help.

Thanks but the thought of bringing up the topic of not being able to get onto their web site makes me want to boil my head like Michael.

They are an even bigger pile of burocratic shit than telefonica. They are created to make life as difficult as possible for the client, and they can do this because they are a monopoly.

[rant] Yesterday I went to the office in Adeje and was delighted to see that the miserable little cow had been exchanged for a big fat one. Obviously she had been found out being too helpful. So after waiting my turn, I accosted the new one, gave her my account details, driving licence, NIE, passport, vaccination certificate and inside leg measurement, and said I wanted to change the bank account details. I produced the new bank info. Can't do it. Why not? Because I need to provide proof that the new bank account was in my name. She then said "you can phone this Endesa phone number to do it" and shouted "next" before I had even time to be outraged. Too fucking idle to do something, just fob me off with a phone number ("just go away and do it somewhere else").

Well, just to piss her off, I'm going back with the new evidence and getting her to do it.  :gonnagetit: [/rant]

Michael has boiled his head?
You want to boil Michael's head?
You have boiled Michael's head?
You want to boil Michael?

Oh my, what a confusing language English is  :D

Endesa on the other hand have a fantastic website that permits me to look up my bills online, change my address, compare my year on year usage on a lovely chart, along with many other useful features.

I think the moral is that once you can get online with Endesa and it's working, it's absolutely fantastic  :D

See here (http://chalkcat.com/index.php?topic=3157.msg56474#msg56474).

NAH you do realise you are THE ONLY PERSON ON THE PLANET to be able to access the Endesa system online?  What a charmed life you lead!

Does it let you change your bank details? A lot depends on your answer.

I have failed to get on-line with them. The COW in the Endesa shop in Adeje refuses to help getting on-line, saying I have to phone their "help line" which means talking to a Colombian cretin who is clearly somewhere under water.  :gonnagetit:

Don't forget you'll need the 'CUPS' number from the most recent bill in order to register and a bit of guesswork to work out in which fields they've entered which name.

Ok, I'm trying to set myself up.  I've submitted the alta form and it says I will receive an email shortly with login details.  Any idea how many weeks it takes for the email to come through?  :p

It was a few years ago when I set it up but from memory the email arrived within a week. I was impressed  :D

ok - I'm taunted. It's fucking ridiculous if you can do it on-line but have to prove you are the account holder if you ask the fucking ugly jobsworthy cow young lady in Adeje to do it.

It asked for my contract number though, not my CUPS number.  Have your bill and your NIE number ready when I see you and we'll see what we can do  :kissing2:

:P All right Mr Smug. It was some time ago I tried, about 3-4 years. At that time, there was no way I could get it to accept my NIE because it didn't like the string starting with an X. I tried a dozen different ways, omitting the X, putting a zero instead of it, and so on, but no go. It might have taken them less than three years to realise that all NIEs start with an X or Y, so putting their sofware skills into gear for this monumental logical problem they might have made it easier to sign in. I'll have a go later.

That was around the time I registered as well, certainly not later. So you can't use that as an excuse.  :P

It appears that you do need to return a signed mandate even if you change your bank account details online. I found the following on their website which may apply:

Quote

Difficult choice. Either I go to the post office in Adeje to buy a stamp, and be attended by that miserable unhelpful revolting fat bag, or go to Endesa in Adeje and be attended by that miserable unhelpful revolting fat bag.

 :wowspring:

So I went back to the Endesa office this morning. To be sure, I took my passport and NIE plus everything else I could think of, including a blurb from the bank identifying me as the account holder of the account which I wanted payments to be made out of.

Behold. Success. The bag was training a younger one, so seemed to be in a good mood. The machine had run out of waiting queue tickets, so I pòinted that out. Moving at 0.0001 kms/hr she changed the roll and actually gave me one. Just a ticket, thank god.

I took a grim kind of pleasure in listening to the poor woman in front of me. She was doing something for a friend, and after a long discussion the bag insisted that the person whose name was on the contract had to come in person to sign. "No problem" says the woman "he works nearby he can pop down now". "He needs his passport and his NIE of course" says the bag. So we all wait while she phones him. Long argument on the phone. His passport and NIE are at home on Jupiter so no go. She walks out of the office still talking on the phone and leaving all her stuff strewn all over the desk. WTF? Stalemate whilst the bags twain wonder whether the woman is coming back or what. This was quite interesting, so I didn't mind waiting.

She didn't return. Finally move to desk. Passport demanded, with NIE. Photocopy of both taken, with rigorous inspection of both, even checking that the photo was me (WTF?). New account number noted. Guess what. BIC code of the bank required. WTF???? Oddly, I had logged on to the bank to find this out only two days previously, and although they could supply the IBAN, no info about a BIC code, which, the bank said, was used only for foreign transactions. So why do Endesa want it? As failure loomed, I suddenly realised I had written the BIC code in pencil on the paper with the account number, and they actually took my word for it instead of insisting on an official document declaring the BIC code and signed by several notaries. I thought that was rather sloppy of them myself.

Printer prints out a dozen bits of paper, after a new ream of paper was installed. I signed a few, after they had found a pen. Long pause to look for paperclips for their copies, even longer pause to try and open the stapler and then look for more staples, because it appears that my wodge had to be stapled together by law.

By this time the room was full of people wasting their lives, including a woman with four children who asked to jump the queue before the children wrecked the place. The others were less than sympathetic.

All that crap must have taken twenty minutes, just to change bank account details on a bloody contract.  :gonnagetit:

I have asked more than once, but their instant reply is always that I must call their "help"-line for technical problems about the internet access. I don't have the energy to try and talk with some bored Colombian who mumbles, but I might just give it a go, now I'm on a roll.

I don't know what their mentality is, but they must have a vested interest in not helping people with the internet. The more people use the internet, the more redundant they become.

But it's totally ridiculous that you get this sensation of some triumph when you've managed to do something which would be a doddle in the UK (presumably)

Just make sure you keep enough funds in the old account to pay the direct debits until they start to be taken from the correct account  :-X

Fine, if you're prepared to go back and argue with the bags why it isn't your fault your electricity is cut off

It seems (from my customers) that it can take up to three months for Endesa to change the bank account they charge from but it can take only one missed direct debit for them to cut off your supply...

I should add that in the UK, TalkTalk is at least as terrible. It took six months and about as many letters and new direct debits to transfer the phone account from me to my ex. Because each time the form went in, the account was in arrears (because that's the normal state of play), but if you pay it there and then, they then want another form out of you to process the change of ownership - and by the time they get around to it, another billing cycle has ensued.

Oh, and they won't accept payment in advance for a Direct Debit, and they won't accept a Direct Debit in the name of someone who isn't the account holder *now*.

I seem to remember threats of involving the regulator to move things along.
