I am sure we all know that the price for a ticket for 'El Gordo' Christmas lottery is €20. However the normal price at point of sale is €23. For a long time I have been under the assumption that the extra €3 went to charity so spent the €3 without thought.
The sister in law and the wife were discussing it this morning as the sister in law wants to buy one for this year. It was then that the fact came out that the extra €3 didn't necessarily go to charity, but the person who bought the original ticket and then offered them for resale!
Stuff that the next tickets we buy will be for €20. You can pay the correct price at any 'Lottery' outlet the same place you get the 'Euro lottery' tickets from. Just thought I'd share :)
Don't forget that the ticket actually costs 200 €.
What you are buting for 20 is one tenth of a ticket - so if you win a million Euros, you actually get a hundred thousand . . . . which would be nice.
Or you win a 2,500 and get a 250.
The real winner is the government here - they win billions every year.

But also somebody who buys a €200 ticket, sells 19 and earns €57, i.e. gets a free one-tenth ticket plus €37.
