Title: Amazon no longer offer free delivery to Spain!
Post by: Nova on Tue 3 Sep 2013, 12:38
I am fuming!!!!  From the Amazon website:

QuoteAmazon.co.uk ended its FREE Super Saver Delivery service to Italy, Spain, Andorra, Greece, Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino and the Vatican City on June 11, 2013. This service provided free delivery on eligible orders over £25. We continue to focus on offering the broadest possible selection, low prices and convenient delivery to all of our customers around the world and products from Amazon.co.uk for delivery to these countries are available via both our standard and priority delivery services.

As if it wasn't enough of a trauma trying to get hold of things here  :gonnagetit:

Erm, does that statement above not contradict itself?  :undecided:

in what way?  :017:  When I said "get hold of things here" I thought it was implicit that I meant getting things shipped here, with all the hassles of IGIC and post office handling charges, etc.

Sorry Nova. I didn't make myself clear.

The 2 bold areas contradict each other.

Ah that, yes, most definitely!  It reads almost as though Gerald Ratner had said in the next breath that his company was dedicated to supplying highest quality goods to all their customers  ::)

I thought you knew that they had stopped it.  I have given up my fight with them over UPS, and stopped buying from them.  Screw them, they are a bunch of assholes; that's my attitude.

What you can look into is buying from Amazon.de.  They still ship via Deutschepost and we have had nothing come from UPS from them.

Just pay your money and get it delivered properly. You know you want it, don't be so tight.

It isn't just tight Del, a £5 bag of hay will now cost me £6 for shipping, total £11 for 400g of hay.

I can get the larger bag of hay for £30 and be charged £9 for the shipping, but I know from experience that the large bag of hay will attract attention from customs, bumping the price by IGIC plus a £12 handling fee for the post office.  Again, I'll end up paying as much for the shipping as for the hay.  It's kind of stuffed up my routine - a lot!

Am I getting confused here  I thought we were talking about a new notebook....not Hay.

Did you?  :D  No, I order a heck of a lot more than just electronics from Amazon.  In the past year alone I've ordered several books, food, mouse, mousemat, CDs, iGadget accessories, piggy beds and lots and lots of hay!  Which is why having to pay for shipping is going to really cripple me.  Hay is a regular purchase.  The only reason I haven't ordered any since they changed the rules (and thus didn't know about the change in rules) is because last time I ordered them a huge bag of hay, for which I was stung for over €20 on delivery, which has kept us going, until now.  I went to order another bag of their favourite hay today and found that it just isn't feasible any more  :(

Ok understand. There are equestrian centres on the island they must bring in hay in bulk. Surely you can do a deal with them for the tiny amounts you need

I wouldn't want to.  Even the pet hay you find in the pet shops here is too dirty and dusty, that's why I buy from Amazon.  It's quality English hay, sweet-smelling, clean, dust free and hypo-allergenic, which is especially important when you have piggies that sneeze.  Damn it, I might just have to swallow the shipping costs after all, I can't give them muck  :03:

I can understand the dryness and dust, but why not wash it under your shower and let it dry naturally. You may be surprised how it turns out. It probably just wants re-hydrating.
