UN instructs Spain to compensate a mother for death of daughter

This is interesting. The UN has instructed the state of Spain to compensate a mother for the loss of her 6-year old daughter, killed by the father 11 years ago (who then committed suicide).

The reason for the compensation is that she had lodged 30 separate complaints about domestic violence to the authorities, who did nothing. The UN has judged that the state failed to protect her and her daughter sufficiently.

And it took 11 years to get this result, but at least it's a result.
