Here we go again.  10.8km.  My first shirt is from the 14th run of the race.

@Janet just in case you get contacted by would-be runners, the race is not open for entry yet.  The main site shows the 2017 race being closed for entry, and the gesport site does not have this year's race listed yet.  I'll continue to monitor because I am stupid and plan to run.

Janet

thank you, yes I know, the main website says explicitly that registration is possible from 1 January ... and that it must be done on the gesport website, which isn't open for bookings yet ...

the usual state of clarity ... :D

And................ whoops I did it again, for the 7th time.  It doesn't get any easier.

The plus points:  Sparkling clean disinfected ablutions block at the sports centre (the lady who cleans them woke up at 0430 dying to get in to clean up after the hockey tournament yesterday; what a lady)  which really make the difference pre-run, the most fantastic support along the route including the finish where I was treated like a rock star, runners were kept safe and sound by cops and marshalls, a cool shirt, two drum bands, one by El Fraile and one on the way into Las Galletas, crazy kids handing out water at the water points.

The minus points:  You cannot park anywhere in Las Galletas any more.  I arrived by 0730 for an 0900 start and just managed to park.  The car park near the harbour virtually cannot be used now as its full of fucking caravans (what the hell is wrong with Arona?).  Then, having finished, the authorities would not allow any cars on either route in or out of Las Galletas!!!!!!!  I ended up in the Ten Bel car centre, was spit out into Silencio, directed back into the car park where we all did U-turns, left again, made my own way out of Silencio to get stuck in the Guargacho flea market traffic.  In the end it was 45 minutes from leaving my parking spot in Las Galletas to getting on to the motorway!  Fuck that, not doing that again.

The other minus point:  runners used to get a little backpack, a shirt, a hat, and some other little token present plus samples of things.  This year we got a shirt in a paper bag and that's it.  They really cheaped out.  That coupled with the traffic problems make me concerned for this race.  This was the 24th event, and I worry about future ones.

Congratulations on completing it. It certainly can't be an easy thing to accomplish
