It's been a strange one right from the off. The reports were a cross between vague and confusing.

Headlines like " Mystery Surrounds The Whereabouts" and "The Boy, Thought To Be British"...with pictures showing him at some posh infant school alongside photos taken hours before the attack.

Spain, Britain, Australia, The boy's mother, The boy's father....all a bit mixed up.

Sadly in the wrong place at the wrong time...

Then shouldn't that read, sorry then that should read .........his wife, the boy's mother is in ........... 


His wife AND the boy's mother - that's 2 people

Yes sad, sad news

Catalonian police are saying that within the last half hour Younes Abouyaaqoub, believed to be the driver of the van in the attack and the only one on the run, has just been found and shot dead in Altos del Subirats (Barcelona). At the time of arrest, he was wearing a belt with explosives  ... (that's the police statement but it could turn out that the belt was actually fake). 

I don't know whether it's more disturbing that police now say they had no prior knowledge of the cell. Usually "the suspect was known to police" ... but not this time. A whole cell, at least a dozen of them, with gas cannisters intended to be used to make bombs to blow up the Sagrada Familia if they hadn't blown up in the house where they were being prepared, killing the imam of a mosque who seems to have been the head of the cell.

How could police not have known? Apparently they were all Moroccan immigrants to Spain and all living in a small village in the Pyrenees.
