Tragic dawn in Tenerife

Two fatalities overnight saw Tenerife wake up to horrible news this morning. First, the body of a woman was found shortly before 9am in a rocky area near El Médano's playa El Cabezo. Emergency services say that they were called out with reports of the grim discovery, but that ambulance crew and medical staff from the local health centre could do nothing for the woman, and she was declared dead at the scene. There are no details as yet about the woman. The Guardia Civil is investigating the incident.

Earlier, a 29-year-old motorist died in the early hours on the TF1 near Adeje. Emergency services say that they were called out shortly before 4am with reports of an accident in which someone needed assistance. Bomberos were needed to cut the driver out of the vehicle but sadly ambulance crew were unable to assist him and he was declared dead at the scene from the injuries he suffered. No other vehicle appears to have been involved in the incident.
